Why doesn't C++ support structure style type declaration? Not a typedef struct, rather using typedef in a struct style: typedef { unsigned char BYTE; ... };

For example we can declare:
typedef unsigned char BYTE, byte;
typedef unsigned short WORD;
typedef unsigned long DWORD;

However why not with only a single typedef?
typedef {
unsigned char BYTE;
unsigned short WORD;
unsigned long DWORD;
};

I can understand typedef not having it because of the syntax:
