Not sure about a job in Colorado--I've done some looking since she decided she doesn't want to move after all. There are quite a few jobs in Boulder (~100 miles away), some in Denver (~50 miles) and almost none in Colorado Springs--but she's (now) convinced that she needs to stay in Colorado Springs.

Well, what can I say, @Jerry? To save a relationship, it takes two willing to. To break it, one will do. The latter does a lot of harm. It might take years to get over it. When you have children, you are chained to each other for about two decades, no matter whether you like each other. (My 2nd ex is still learning this. The very hard way.) Do the best you can for the kids. It's not their fault.

The much bigger issue (IMO) is that (for example) when I ask her what it would take for her to be happy, the closest things to solid answers I've gotten were "I don't know", and "I'll never be happy in this world". Personally, I think she needs counseling (and possibly more), but at least thus far she hasn't cooperated in that at all.

@JerryCoffin Been there, done that. I more or less forced my 1st wife to go to counseling in our first crisis. She was very thankful afterwards, because it did work out. (For a while, anyway. Until she fell in love with someone else.) I talked my 2nd into doing so, and she reluctantly agreed. But her heart was never in it. Inwards, she had already moved out.
