Code::Blocks, to me, is the easiest IDE to set up that's not Windows, at least for C++

It comes with MinGW anyways and it's a one-button build

Then, when it gets too much, introduce IDEs and scripts when it makes sense

It allows the programmer to understand why such tools are necessary

My C++ build system tends to be clang++ src/**/*.cpp … until it gets too slow and I switch to Perl to generate a Ninja configuration file.
