(Also, my Wife immigrated from the USSR here with her family after the collapse and my parents lived in a Kibbutz (which is like an ultra-socialist community that was common in Israel in the 40s until recently)

You know, agile, no overtime, etc. And it turned out that they would not have any recorded overtime, but relied heavily on their developers to work 50 hour weeks. I never gave in and always took off time for every single hour of overtime I was doing. And I had a new job within about 8 months. I might not be the world's greatest programmer. But I am not bad enough to work for free.
