Comparing F3 to FNV, I always prefered the latter because it had an actual plot, actual choices, and actual characters.

I don't care much for the setting as long as there's stuff in it.

Indeed, but it was on the west side like the originals. But the Gamebryo engine was atrocious. New Vegas (the city) looked worse than shit. I am not sure it was even to scale ( the individual buildings ).

But, did you see the voice cast? Half the cast of DS9 was there.

I think that Obsidian looked at Gamebryo, realized it was shit, and decided to pour their resources into writing because at least that's not limited by the tech.

Gamebryo had no preset vehicle stuff, so they just used existing character shit to fake a train. Because adding vehicle code is such a menacing task. On the rails vehicle, for that matter. Doesn't even require physics.

Also, Bethesda animations have been shit since Morrowind & Oblivion. And the animation system has been reused for a decade almost. Has no IK solvers, just places the character on top of the ground and runs the looping animation.
