A friend is over from another country in London over the weekend, and wants to have a coffee with me, but for me to get to London and back will cost me £70, and take me 5hrs or something insane. I'd really like to spend time with this person, but the time it takes to get there and the money it costs, it just seems much.

Anyway, when I'm in doubt, it usually helps to remember that you don't have to pick the optimal choice. It's not an optimization problem to be solved. You're just deciding what to do with a single day of your life. It's not a big deal if you make a suboptimal choice
