so, i'm screwing around reading whats in memory locations with gdb, and I have a question. When I examine a giant (8 bytes) from a starting address, I get a different result when I examine two words (2 four byte chunks)... when I do the two four byte chunks, the first four bytes are after the 2nd four bytes as in the giant

it is because of little-endian! The first one they're in the correct order so if we view them in hex the numbers are right, but when we do it separately, it goes back to little-endian:
