What is metro and what is WinRT?

AFAIK Metro is the new Windows 8 interface (the tiles), WinRT is Windows 8 on ARM

Metro is called Modern UI now, not Windows 8. Unless they changed it recently, I wouldn't know.

@Chimera Not technically; they're still running on Win32, but they're sandboxed, and you have some weird automated memory management thing with C++/CLI-like syntax.

It's not .NET, but it certainly reminds me of .NET.

Anyone used Kinect with C++?

@Chimera I imagine that it's an optimization in the database. Only generate a data-structure if there is a change in rep. Since the majority of users don't get rep-changes every day.

I would like a final year project with Kinect. But I can't think of anything that will be useful. Maybe used along with a 3D printer. Any ideas?

I don't have to use Kinect, but it will be fun.

@Lews: Lots of ideas. Use exisitng libraries for some sort of human-computer interface, such as a computer that knows when the user has left, & goes to sleep. May be redundant, but interesting as a start for a more aware desktop system...

The fact that they use a library for stuffs, doesn't make them any less native.

You'll hear a lot of FUD thrown around because C++/CX uses a syntax similar to C++/CLI (seriouly, why make up even more new syntax?), but as always, syntax is irrelevant.

I only read MSO every so often. I'm reading lots of talk about SCITE and FGITW but have no idea what these are. Can someone please define and explain these abbreviations?
