@libjup well since...I don't know, .NET 3.5? there is ConnectionPooling by default. Which means that if you try to open a connection, .NET checks if there is already a 'real' connection open to the server, if no, it creates one. If there is one, it uses that one. If a connection is closed(); and connectionpooling is active, the connection goes back to the connectionpool. After some time (there is no real definition what 'some time' is) the connection is really closed

the big advantage of this is, that you can create cleaner contexts (each SqlCommand has it's own SqlConnection which is embedded in a using(){} statement) without having the problem that opening a connection takes some time

They give you an app for your phone that you use to hunt these 'portals' around the real world. If your faction can capture a portal, they can link it to other portals they've captured, as long as there's not a connection from two enemy portals running between them.

I think it lists the application that provided the membership. So if you have oAuth, AD, and Forms authentication turned on that column fills in with what sent the credentials (in the case of oAuth)
