Does anybody here have an opinion on Meteor?

I don't use it, but I hear mostly negative opinions of it.

and I really really really don't like it

I feel like it's very gimmicky

Keep in mind that I'm coming from a C++ background and prog lang interpreters, so... I get complexity I guess. But the management system is confusing

Meteor has its own templating system, stresses reactivity above everything, and has its own package manager and tries to use its own strange community-packages for everything

is there any way to set a property of an object to readonly, so that strict mode won't throw an error if something tries to override?

without using a proxy. Just setting descriptor writable to false will throw an error
