yeah there is probably a statistical threshold where the waiting period is needed to catch new infections at a 99.9% of the time kinda thing

and AA don't fall into that threshold but MSM do

However we have no direct justification for why one rate is enough to warrant 3 months while another isn't.

yeah now that there's testing I'm not sure why it's there, it was 1 year but is now to 3 months

I think if the tests are accurate enough no one needs a waiting period

it may be though that early infections can be missed by the tests, if that is actually true it would make more sense

but then it would make more sense to generally wait if you had unprotected sex with a partner who you aren't in a long term relationship with

not just MSM

@DaveS it was changed from 1 year to 3 months due to shortage

@DaveS there are tests thats WP (waiting period) is much less, couple days or 1 month

@DaveS yes, other countries such as Israel got rid of the waiting period and just added specific questions to questionnaire

like "have you had unprotected sex with multiple partners in last 3 months?"

I still don't support the 3 month ban but my evidence I was trying to use was flawed.

If it helps the American Heart Association as well as many other groups do not support the 3 month ban and called it unscientific.

yeah it should be supported by evidence to stay in place

a study on hiv viral loads and the test detection threshold, rate of infection progression etc

find out how long you need to be infected to detect it in the test 100% of the time, identify risk factors, make an informed questionnaire and do that

but that takes money and we got stocks to pump and wars to fight

so 3 month ban it is
