At Uni our residential internet access was something like 2Mbit/s, with so much contention that you'd be lucky to get 56k throughput most of the time

man, I've heard this one so many times back in the day :'(

On top of that it was throttled and protocol/port-restricted more than a virgin's love parts

It should be noted that Google Fiber is $70/month :/

@Rapptz If nobody's leeching then nobody can be seeding to leechers. Note that this is as distinct from "prepared to seed". Presumably that's what he's going on about.

If you had 1 seeder and 7 leechers it's going to be slow

if you want to have higher than 1, somebody else has to have lower than 1.

obviously too many leechers can be a problem but leeching in general isn't problematic by default.

The public tracker has a larger swarm while the private one has much less. The most I get out of my private trackers (discounting seedboxes) is like 60 seeders.
