I would like to implement a thread safe auto update listener. It should to the following:

Start a thread and wait for x hours. If x hours are passed check for the update. It checks all the time as long as the application is running. Does anyone have a clue how to do it?

I'll reword this answer. Thread.Sleep considered harmful if you intend to wait for less than clock resolution.
