@LewsTherin I don't know how it's really done in computer graphics, but the way I'd calculate a normal to a polygon is to use the vector product of two of its edges - and that comes out with the right direction but a completely arbitrary length depending on the size of the polygon. So any calculation you then do that involves the normal as a factor is dependent on some quantities which are completely unrelated to the problem
