Do you have to send that data to the server or receive it from the server? Because if you're receiving it, you can always just hex dump the data and figure out what format it's in

Yeah I will test the only problem is that I do not have a good way to test... I can read the telepass code and try to understand, put there is no other response on payment then ok, not ok.

@QPaysTaxes Not really. I write programs for our robots but that is "front end" code and I just tell it where to go. I did write one app for my company as well but that was a above and beyond thing. Most "coding" I do is SQL dealing with our DB for our ERP software.

Mainly my coding is just puzzles online

But you want to use different formats at different times.

Instead of a String being a collection of Character (or anything else), a String contains several views.

So if you want to access a string as an array of Characters, you use string.characters.

Or if you want to access the Unicode code points, in Swift you use string.unicodeScalars

or you can access it in UTF-16 with string.utf16

It depends on the format you want the bytes in. If you want them in UTF-8, you'd use string.utf8

or in UTF-16, you'd use string.utf16

Swift keeps the internal encoding private, so it doesn't matter to the programmer, who can just specify whatever encoding they want. It probably uses UTF-8 internally and converts it when you access its views or something.

@QPaysTaxes Now the disadvantage of this is that conversion is slow. When you access the string's CharacterView (or whatever encoding it doesn't use natively), it has to convert it when you access it.

@QPaysTaxes Swift forces you to notice that by not allowing you to use integers to index the views; you can't just do string.characters[5]; you have to do string.characters[string.characters.startIndex.advancedBy(5)].

@Tunaki right. There are about 1400 posts to handle if we cut off at +5 and about 900 if we cut at +6. Other than that I expect it to be about the same. Except that cut off at +5 seems to reveal a lot of blatant recommendation questions, much more than it was in prior cleanup (cut off at +6 seems to be mostly okay questions, like it was before)
