@Braiam Yeah, architecturally, it does make more sense to keep them separated. There are only two reasons why you wouldn't want to or can't do that. The first is templates, which have to all go into the header, because they get expanded and generated at compile time, so the compiler needs to see the definition, not just the linker. If you're using templates, then you essentially have to be header-only. The second is ease-of-use for the end consumer of the library.

I disagree with this edit. I once tried to translate a post that was in russian, but it got rejected(before I had 2000 rep), and the reason was that the post owner wouldn't understand it.

@10Rep It's ok to translate answers if it is simple enough. However, you can simply flag as NAA if you think there's no value being lost be deleting it.

I remember when I was learning HTML/CSS/JS. I was thinking it would be a good idea to check out some good websites’ HTML and CSS for good examples. I thought SO would be a great site for this, so I opened it up in the web inspector... and scratched my head, and wondered what the heck this was. I didn’t know about Stacks then.

@Nick You will need a userscript manager extension for your browser. I recommend against Greasemonkey (significant compatibility issues with many userscripts). The most popular is Tampermokey. The other main alternative is Violentmonkey, which is open source.

It looks like they went public with it in November 2017, so they would have had to have been working on it for quite a while prior to that. From the answer on that question, it looks like they started work in September 2014.

@Andreas I, honestly, have no idea. The mindset to use that approach requires one to be diametrically apposed to the concepts behind using CSS. I know they were having issues with things breaking with unintended consequences when they were changing CSS, but, really, that was because they kept not using semantic indicators, but did use things which were specific to page HTML organization, and didn't scope things appropriately.

For example, if they were having a problem on question pages and needed to special case something, and for some reason didn't want to apply another class, then they could have written a rule that has body.question-page as the first part of the selector, and limit any secondary effects.

@Andreas For some reason, they completely ignore the sites they have which could be resources for building their sites. I mean, how much trouble would it save to post questions on User Experience about UI design options? It seems like it would be a great way to get feedback, opinions, and options.

@Andreas I've just had 3 suggested dupes in the CV queue to Get battery level and state in Android in a row that are all incorrect. That question is about how to get the current battery level and detect charging state changes. This is about measuring sources of power drain within an app. This is about how much battery your app uses. And this is about power-save mode changes, not charging state changes. Please check these more closely.

Do you know of any canonical question about C-strings? There are a lot of questions that shows that OP does not know about how nul termination works and that this is the primary problem, but I rarely find a good dup for them.

@CodyGray I used to be a pl/sql developer, so I saw what I "wanted to" see. It doesn't actually say pl/sql anywhere. It says "psql".

But if it was my Question, I'd add a "PL/pgSQL" and a "postgresql" tag. And.. I'd post the definition for the "user_star_raider" table. Unless there's a typo and they accidentally shortened the "user_star" table.

When I was new to the site, closed questions were useful as in giving me concrete examples of unaccepted questions. I also later came to realize that some things I thought were acceptable, weren’t, because I’d looked at off-topic questions that should’ve been closed.

Voting fraud is a separate issue from closure, @Dharman. You already know what to do about voting fraud: raise moderator flags.

@Andreas The rules have already been relaxed substantially. The rule for recent activity is primarily to have this room focus on questions which are most beneficial to the site to have closed. The need for that is because we just don't have enough close-votes. While things have recently changed, we don't know what the impact of that change will really be, and it won't be nearly as substantial as the change would have been when 5 CV were required.

@Dharman Every time you post a PHP question I wonder if I should learn it to understand your frustration or avoid it completely to escape it :)

@Scratte PHP is alright, but this kind of questions when OP throws a bunch of unformatted broken code and the accepted answer tells you to kill the execution in the middle with another error as a solution is making people hate PHP.

@JeanneDark Yes, it is permitted. However the FAQ asks that such requests be kept to a minimum. How many is appropriate is really going to depend on how closely people agree with your requests.

That right there is a very good example of why Brad Larson is awesome.

But I have also come across a much more recent spate of anonymous edits, clearly from a troll, all of which make some derogatory remark about the same person. And often also make spurious changes to code.

I guess it's very hard to moderate anonymous 'contributors'.

I think that evaluating by its merits each edit remove most of that burden.

Unless there's a pattern of obviously bad edits, I don't look at who is suggesting them.

@Braiam Indeed. But if a registered user's code edits get rejected a given number of times, then that user is edit-suspended, thus relieving the reviewers of more tedious work. Doesn't (can't) work for anonymous editors.

Unless people are communicated what part of their behavior they should change, the stick doesn't work.

@AdrianMole First. I am not aware of any automated process that suspends editors for having too many of their edits rejected. Johannes presented the alternative theory that you meant it was one of the Bots in Blue doing it.
