@Ron how much do I pay? $725 a month for rent and about $150 for utilities. Actually when I first started living here I was paying $525 a month for rent and the same for utilities... rent has gone up $200 a month due to constant change in ownership of the apartments. But we don't have a renovated apartment and most other people here probably do
But I also live with a flatmate who pays half utilities and a bit less than half of rent
there's one I've had my eye on; I didn't move in there because it was $750 or $800 a month, and much nicer. But now that rent is $200 more a month here than when I started, and I'm living in the exact same apartment and have way less in the way of services from the front office, there's not much keeping me here
which is new enough that it uses not great construction methods/materials but old enough for that to start being a problem, here in the US
Now if you wanted to get a new (post-1980s) craftsman style 1200-1400sq foot home with a decent yard (which is a big thing here in the US, especially in the south), that would run you $150k to $175k probably
Still very cheap compared to what you pay in Germany, even a small village (unless you like living in the pampa, i.e. without internet and possibly racists as neighbours, etc.)
@StephenKennedy Well, that was a rough guess and It's most likely much higher, too here. I've never really looked into the prices in my area. I just know how hard it was to find my current flat for rent already and had some ofers to buy a flat (which was beyond what I found acceptable).
@StephenKennedy When it's not obviously in one of the named flag types, then use a custom flag to add some explanation. Keep in mind that moderators are shown the flag and what you are flagging with no context (or at least that's how it's always described on Meta). Thus, if something isn't clearly one of the named flag types by just looking at the post you're flagging, then help the moderators out and give some explanation.
