@RoelvanUden they are not github projects but my companies projects which are not on github.. so I don't think I can use github.

I am not sure how much I am making sense here..

@Mr_Green The GH client is just a fancy GUI, it uses Git underneath, and it doesn't have to push to GH at all. You can use your own Git servers etc.

@monners The way from 2k and 3k is relatively short

rep is just so easy to get (at least 200 a day). I spent yesterday answering non-promise things since I'm trying to leave the tag to bergi and jfriend (now that bergi knows promises really well and I feel like I can trust him with it)

And you can always go for another bounty

so stuck around 5k now, and probably will be for the foreseeable future

I got to 1000 and just kinda gave up trying to get quick answers in to questions that were too specific

Nowaways I only answer questions I come across as "worthy". I still try and seek them out but sometimes I wonder if my bar is set too high.

Then (ab)using the grace period to improve it gradually

@Qantas94Heavy that's what I did yesterday, I just answered the first 8 questions I could and were on topic

Most of my answers have 7-8 edits on them, without a trace.

In the end it's just a number, but still... It feels good

The fact that my highest upvoted answer by a far margin is an RTFM answer doesn't help motivation either :)

The real secret to rep is canonicals.

@monners It's not just a number.

The key here, in my opinion, is privileges.

You can get more rep over time for 5 canonicals than from 50 regular questions/answers.

I want more people with editing and closing and deleting privileges

I know how to get rep, just that I don't really feel like wasting my effort on dirty tactics for a number.

No one above 20k cares too much about rep but helping with the site is important.

Answering questions is much more important than closing bad ones.

The only problem with bad questions is that they take away time that could be spent on good ones.

I burnt out of the review queues a long time ago, some kind of feedback would be awesome, like "you've helped close X questions", seeing my votes expire is not motivating

@ivarni I solved that problem by focusing my attention to Mjolnir.

I only do the low quality questions queue. Close queue isn't really important.

Get a gold badge in something, then only review duplicate questions of that tag

99% of votes are guaranteed to land a closure.

And if I ever got one it would likely be in Angular tag and I don't like Angular any more so... :)

You basically have two options

You either cheat yourself, or cheat someone else.

If you want to cheat yourself, just change the number of visits server side or something

If you want to cheat someone else, don't cheat someone else.

I'm doing a drag and drop and when I drop my element I need to know which container received a new element. But when I drop something on a container I get only the draged element as e.target... How can I know which container received my dragged element without adding anything to the HTML? jsFid...

@Rikard There is nothing in a mouse event that tells you where you are dragging some element over. Your drag element is completely independent of the drop targets.

@poke I understand the dragged element is child of another element, so e.target will not work... so how to do? check mouse coordinates and compare with container borders?
