It's a mess. C++11 adds overloads with end iterators for the second sequence and that is crucial for such an algorithm. I don't understand why whoever thought the algorithm was a good addition didn't actually consider how to make it minimally usable.

The 8086 was a 16-bit version of the 8080. The "86" suffix was essentially born in that moment, with the decision to use the "6" of "16".
