In fact, Ukrainian and Russian are quite closely related, to the point that (for example) there's probably more difference between my "English" and Puppy's/LRiO's than there is between Russian and Ukrainian (and quite possibly as much difference between LRiO's "English" and Puppy's "English" as between Ukrainian and Russian).
