Given the near-universality of religion, I think hating religion is hating a substantial part of mankind. I can (and do) disagree with most religions and (especially) much of what's done in the name of religion, but that's a whole lot different from hating it.

I am not quite sure how to describe it. It is sort of like they are objects rather than ints. For example, one I saw had enumerated values for planets. But you could, for example, get Planets.Jupiter.mass. Or, have functions perform on them from the enum.
