@SpicyWeenie be aware that this is not C++ Exceptions. that's a windows OS-level "exception". as an access violation, it's also known as a "segmentation fault" using Linux lingo

Also, ~false will compare as unequal with a boolean context who's result is true...

the old trick was if you use ~0 for true, then bitwise AND will work as logical AND and you can inc/jz to see if it's true
