I'm from Sweden, they let us in everywhere.

It depends a lot where you are. Northern coastal cities are pretty Euro friendly.

My guess is the East coast is more like Europe then the west coast, but that's a guess, cause I've never been to the East coast

I think the differences between European cultures outweigh the differences between the US coasts.

@TonyTheTiger I found people more to my tastes (as an open-minded Berliner) at the west coast than at the east coast.

Between the coastal cities and the countryside though, there is quite a difference.

@TonyTheTiger When I entered CA for the first time, coming from Oregon along the coast in the fall, we traded Oregonian rain for nice Californian sunshine. When I came down the same route again years later in spring, it was the opposite, and the people along the redwood coast told us "this is the time when the winter rain stops and the spring rain begins."

@sbi oh wow, so you saw rain in California, I didn't see a drop and hardly a cloud, but then I only saw a very small part of a very big place

@TonyTheTiger I've been to LA only for a few days. I did like Portland, OR, Seattle, and San Francisco, though.

@sbi Yea I heard San Fran is worth a visit from a tourist POV, and San Diego is supposed to be nice too.

Portland is pretty much perfect as cities go.

Next time I go, I'm gonna try see San Fran for sure, and perhaps visit Vegas for lulz

@TonyTheTiger Redwoods can't stop water from leaking through their bark, so they need constant moist atmosphere. They only grow at the western slops of the mountain ranges along the coast, where the wet air coming from the sea rains off its water. It's pretty rainy in the winter in northern California.

Hawaii is awesome, I just wouldn't say throw a dart at a map and drop me anywhere.
