Has there ever been some discussion / guidance over whether unhelpful duplicates, where unhelpful is a combination of lack of original content and SEO value should be deleted? I am wondering because of Madara's answer here.

in my understanding the "value" is in the dating; the newer dupe shows that the older original is still relevant. But that stems from something I read years ago, things change like an invisible ninja on SO in that time period.
