well, you'll probably be fine to start out with a good grasp of one of the major backend langs, a good understanding of the frontend, SQL and some unix knowledge, just to get your foot in the door

everything above that then is great, but you'd get into really obscure stuff to find a C++ or Haskell backend

if you want to use it often learn it or you will be a parrot

You need some basic understanding if you want to transform a 2D image in 3D space for example. How buffers work, what index buffers (when they are good and bad) and so on

you need to know the graphics pipeline too or you will just be guessing, not knowing when to call which function. Webgl is a huge state machine by the way

so you need to learn how that state machine works
