@BenFortune DDNS combined with a VPN setup can be nifty.

If you have a router that supports it, you can route a range through an always-open VPN connection, to a remote server with a static IP. You can even route all your traffic.

@ssube So many Windows VPN clients that only accept IP configurations :(

Then have some incoming traffic forwarded through the VPN back to your home network, which appears static despite actually being dynamic through a tunnel.

I move files from dev to pro only to realize I moved files that weren't fully tested and now pro doesn't work cause bad code, so what I do is rewrite the code to get it back to what it once was. How would Git help me here? I'm starting to get how it tracks changes and shit, but if I'm saving the file frequently as I'm working, how would the file ever go back to a previous state? I'm missing this piece of the puzzle.

If I open file.html and I work on it all day, saving it when I'm about to leave, then I come in tomorrow and need to restore it to when it was opened, how does git actually do that? Is it just going to put shit into my file or does it give me a copy somewhere I grab?
