@JossieCalderon I think you're not quite sure what hash tables are. You can get O(1) sorting with data structures that have an is-sorted invariant (i.e. sorting would be a no-op), but hash tables don't have that.

@R.MartinhoFernandes There are other ways to fix that problem. One is to stand still and take a number of pictures over a period of time. Then merge them in Photoshop (or Gimp, etc.), having it keep only the parts that are (essentially) unchanged between frames. As long as you have at least a couple of frames that include each part of the whole thing, you can get a complete picture, even though no one frame shows the whole thing. Still not going to produce a great picture (of course).

ABI is the same, it's just you usually want these overloads to do a different thing, so...
 
I'm under the (possibly incorrect) premise that rvalue reference vs. normal reference is just a semantic thing (like pointers vs. references) and that the generated code is the same (minus optimizations opportunities).
 
@JerryCoffin Oh that's interesting. I've just been going off of information I got from Raymond Chen's book. He actually talks about some applications that were written for I think windows 3.1 (or earlier) that would on startup attempt to gobble up all the memory they could in order to zero it all out. Needless to say on Windows 95 and up this explodes pretty spectacularly.

@OneRaynyDay Computer Science. No, pretty much the only alternative is to take more courses as an open studies student (undecided major) because the faculty refused me admission. I basically only have access to introductory and arts courses; nothing with programming where I'd excel.

Not being able to get into a prestigious program doesn't mean it's the end. In fact, keep that saltiness deep inside and show others that you can be just as good of a programmer as them without the institution. There's so much material online that any formal computer science education can be found via princeton books/mit open courseware
If you inundate your life with computer science, it's better than someone living on cruise control in a prestigious progam any day
(I hate adding "but conditions vary depending on the person", but usually I have to put it in this chat so here)
 
There are other colleges, but then I pay an additional application fee. One of them is an institute of technology, the other a sketchy place. Honestly, that's what I've done for nearly a decade of my life; messing around with programming platforms of every description. I want to make a career of it, but there are only 3 big companies in my town, and they aren't hiring entry-level. The rest are web-dev positions.

That was an entry level financial firm based in Chicago. It went all the way to an onsite, and they extended an offer. But they couldn't match Apple's offer. So that was the end of that.
What I didn't expect was to actually be in Chicago some 3 years later at a different financial firm 2 blocks away.

Google 1+'ed Apple's offer. So I went to Google instead.
I wasn't a huge fan of Apple's business model anyway.

I can agree there; not my favourite product, but the company has good moments.
