I honestly spent 1.5h every day for 1.5 months to write my thesis and then 3h / day in the last 10 days for fine tuning

This way, no stress and no all nighters and also easier since I wrote stuff that were still fresh in my mind

I did the exact same thing, except some days it were 3hrs

But if you are sure about the thesis, but get back feedback concluding it's not good you go doubt every single thing

which leads to a basical re-write of the whole damn thing

you weren't in regular contact with your professor mentor at school?

No, the person to read it first is the teamleader

His feedback was not that bad, I fixed that and delivered the thing to the school

The school bulldozed it with negative feedback

I would have done the opposite, regularly checking with the school, and once I have something satisfactory from a school point of vue, I'd send it to the company mentor, I don't think anyone has enough time to read it all

too bad school has the final say over it, because school's opinion of your thesis is literally meaningless, while the company owner's opinion is valuable

plus I was not aware I was doing something wrong remember

in short: the amount of negative was a lot more as I'd ever had expected and now to be sure I work on every single bit of the thesis

against which rule? you're sending them chapters of your thesis to give you feedback, you're not asking them to implement stuff

you only get feedback once, which is on the entire thesis

they can't allow students to constantly send parts to be checked due to lack of time or whatever the reason is they set these rules

we didn't have that rule, it only depended on the availability of your professor and his willingness to do his job

you obviously won't have a daily followup, but we had a monthly catch up of a couple of hours during the whole period of the internship

We don't have that here

this way you can act quickly if he feels like you're derailing in the company

I only have had catching up moments with my teamleader of the company but not with my teacher

a catch up with my teacher only happens once in the 5 month period

unfortunately, company goals != school goals, so the guidance of a professor is needed to make sure you're not "just" working for the company

but there is nothing I can do against that, it's a system that is being performed like that

I had friends who failed because their thesis was judged at the end as "work" and not "project with all the angles required by school to mark it as a final thesis"

@Tim yes, students are generally pissed about that fact. I think the government should make some exception for this

2 periods of 10 months a Dutch HBO student works for a different company where contact with school is solely a check up and a check on a report/thesis

but you do pay for the 10 months, rather you give any work to teachers or not

probably the give your money to the company that pays your internship ""salary"" with it, and the split the profits 50/50

wes give you a certificate measuring the course you have taken from (wes certified universities)

coursera also offers this, but you usually need to purchase it

I have a thesis about developping automated GUI testing software. The main question is "how does one automated GUI testing of a laboratorial employee on (the company's application)?"

This question is seperated into several sub-questions like "how is the framework of the company buildt"

one of these seperated questions is a look on the market to see if it is attractive to use any third party software for this matter

so I investigate how automated testing software like TestComplete work: how do they perform object recognition (in other words; with what matters)

and the costs

so you built a benchmark matrice with a set of parameters that are relevant to the company, right?

But the main dealbreaker is the fact that third party software never has access to the internal flow of the running application

For example it can't perform something like ApplicationManager.GetFocussedView() or such

But in order to come to this conclusion I first need to compare these third party software packages with eachother and with internal application option

But now comes the part I get stuck, the info is all gathered and written but the sequence of the storyline is wrong

A couple of years ago, I warned you to vet the contents of your manifest. But, if you are like me, the past two years have felt like a decade. So, it’s not unreasonable to have forgotten the lessons from that blog post. Since a recent bit of news highlighted this problem again, perhaps it is time to revisit the topic.

You see the subject is "is it attractive to use third party software" but if I want to compare the internal option to these software packages I must have also presented the readerr the 'main ingredients' of my internal software option.. otherwise there is nothing to compare

But explaining how an internal option of this software will work is a huge load of info so it may not fit into the subject "is it attractive to use 3rd party software"

and if I explain the reader my 'main ingredients' (components, better words) of my internal software option before the comparisement with the 3rd party software the reader might wonder why I am even still comparing this to the third party software packages anyway

then you could just restrain yourself to the licensing costs

@Mehdi that is correct, but in order to gather the general workflow of the third party software packages I did have to mention this capability

Otherwise the reader will look into my sources and see I for example never mentioned this option

you only need to mention what your company needs, not what the tools provide

I think you should also realize that you're not supposed to compete with well established tools, you're there to fill a very narrow and specific need at a certain cost, so just focus on that specific need

the company gave me a blank cheque before this research started "how do third party software do this, with what tools and is it with everything included less or more attractive"

@Mehdi but the project constited of this research, that is the problem. It wanted to have investigation on the way the software packages generally work and why it is/ is not attractive to use third party software

@Mehdi cause I was trying to persue Tim with that cheque for a meet up

so the compete part is inevitable. Also the internal option won not because of it's cost but also due to lower maintanence work of changing things like elementreferences

you should have mentioned this blank cheque in the opening line for your tinder match, guaranteed hook up

Because internal software can look up such UI elements in the visual tree with far less pointers than external software requires (cause it's never actual part of the program)
