Off the top of my head, anything involving pointers or C arrays, unless you use the C++-managed equivalents

Even then, one may depend upon RAII behavior with shared_ptrs that can't be guaranteed to happen with python's __del__

Specifically if something is relying on direct memory access? Pretty much nope.

it would be far easier to write a wrapper tool that allows you to interface with the code via ctypes

@johnsmith parsing the syntax and semantic meaning of the code, finding functionally equivalent data structures (in type, purpose, behavior), catching language-specific behaviors based on usage (e.g. C++'s virtual func taking a parent class X *x and knowing that virtuals would behave more a property on Python inherited class/super), scoping, knowing how to adapt code correctly when languages don't have matching support for low level detail (e.g. are all * behaviors okay to convert to value?)

And depending upon what you're trying to do, it's also possible for C++ to call into a Python VM with python's C api. But that's relatively niche

@holdenweb __bases__ is not part of the __dict__; it's a descriptor on type (the metaclass).

@holdenweb: and __dict__ on a class is indeed a read-only proxy, but you can still use setattr() (or __setattr__) to write to the actual class attributes.
