@TylerH cc @RyanM @NathanOliver That post/user was deleted 9 years ago. The process for deletion/destruction of users has definitely changed between then and now, so that doesn't necessarily reflect what currently happens.

IIRC, what happens is when a user is destroyed is all of their posts are deleted by the community user, not the moderator who destroyed the user. However, I'd have to double-check who is listed as the deleting user. It's not a case which I personally experience much, given that I usually spam/R/A delete the user's posts prior to destroying a user, so the posts are hidden behind a spam/R/A banner.

As an example, this post was reported by SD about 9 hours ago. The post was deleted via red flags and then the user destroyed. The username was denormalized.

@SurajRao Custom mod flags are not cleared automatically upon spam deletion. IMO, that's good; they shouldn't be cleared automatically, because there's just too often when the custom flag needs more to be done than just deleting the post.

I’m confused why this answer was deleted. The question asked what the URL endpoint was for a service, and the (new contributor) provided a URL endpoint. Based on the comments, I’d normally suspect it was mistaken for a link-only answer. But a moderator reviewed and deleted the answer. Am I missing something? Was there something else wrong with the answer? (I can understand closing the question, but that’s a separate matter.)

@JeremyCaney I agree - it looks a perfectly valid solution to the question that was asked. Unfortunately since a moderator deleted it mere mortals such as myself cannot vote to undelete. I also agree that the question is likely off-topic although I'm not certain on that category. It's not really seeking recommendations since it can have a correct answer.

Though I also feel bad that a new contributor answered a long-standing question in good faith, only to have their first contribution mistakenly deleted. I know how these often feel like snap decisions while reviewing, but can have an outsized impact on people still finding their footing within the developer community.

@mickmackusa It's a bit too much to require extra tags for all cv-pls requests. For duplicates, that makes sense. For other close reasons, they usually don't require subject matter expertize.

I agree with what was said above. If a question requests recommendations, or is opinion-based, or too broad, etc. etc. you can tell that even if it is on a tag for which you have no experience/qualifications

I asked for at least one more tag. I even said please. I am not making any demands. If you don't feel like adding 9 more characters to your request, that is your prerogative.

Should repeated answers be del-pls-ed or just mod flagged (NATO with same suggestion from an older answer)?

If it's obviously a direct copy, then mod-flag as plagiarism. If it's an 'accidental' repeat, then del-pls is better.

Sometimes people (especially newcomers) post their answer without looking at others.

I believe this case is the latter. Yesterday I encountered a repeated answer with the exact same wording as another answer. Mod-flagged it as plagiarism

@bad_coder While doubt is related to 'question' (e.g. to doubt something is to question its veracity), it's less accurate to say you have a doubt when you simply do not know/understand something; having a doubt is appropriate when there is a claim/statement and you think you know enough to suspect the claim/statement is not true. Even so, if you only have one doubt, a native English speaker would typically say "I doubt this" rather than "I have a doubt about this".

When there amount of doubt(s) is unspecified, one could say "I have doubts" or "I have my doubts"; this is just one of a gazillion unspecified 'rules' (read: 'norms') in English

And when you're in the context of learning or a place where you ask questions and get answers, it's more appropriate/natural to say "I have a question about" rather than "I have a doubt about". It's all academic here, of course, because such verbiage, whichever one you choose, is fluff... just ask your question! Don't tell us you have one!

I've been reading a lot of news about hacks/attack vectors/0-days lately (thanks Exchange) and this makes me consider false flag attempts at hacking 'signatures' by using known quirks like this. I can't remember the name for that technique right now but I think there is one for it in hacking specifically

e.g. Russian hackers use that phrasing to suggest to anyone doing forensics after the fact that they are Indian instead of Russian

I've used it on my phone for a couple of years (Firefox). Admittedly, the status of being able to do that became a bit more murky with an update to Firefox for Android which prevented a lot of browser extensions from working, but the URRS doesn't require the userscript APIs for most of what it does, so can be loaded into the page directly.

A future update will make the portions which do use the userscript APIs fall back to vanilla JavaScript, but you can use the primary in-chat functionality now. If you create the following bookmarklet, clicking on the bookmarklet will load the URRS into the page and it will be able to perform its major functions, including adding the question's main tag to any requests which don't have it:

@Makyen Many/most userscripts can be loaded in a similar manner. However, any userscript which uses the userscript APIs, or other userscript specific features, won't function, or will experience issues/capability degradation. OTOH, most don't use the userscript APIs.

The aspect I miss most is the [review-pls] generation from Suggested Edits - that save a lot of work.
