@HovercraftFullOfEels If I'm around, I usually ask people to repost closevote please requests which don't use an actual cv-pls. I do that because when that tag is not used the request will not be displayed by the URRS when reviewing cv-pls requests, due to the URRS relying on SE chat search, which is quite limited. Basically, when a request doesn't have the tag, the request will get much less attention and is unlikely to be completed unless it's completed prior to scrolling off the chat page.
@HovercraftFullOfEels np. I know it's inconvenient all around, but it's the best solution I've got to messages that don't get edited within the 2 minute edit limit. I'm open to other solutions, but the only other way I see of resolving it would be to ask a moderator to edit, which feels like not a good idea. Ideally, I'll get around to moving the URRS review off of using the SE chat search, so the URRS can show non-conforming requests in review.
@Matthew We are not supposed to post cv-pls requests for posts that have not been active in some time. That question, while it was asked in 2010, was active today. A post being active means that it will be displayed at the top of the active pages. As a result, it will tend to get more people looking at it. When that is the case, it's permitted to post a cv-pls about it.
@Matthew If you feel something should be closed, then you should flag it. Our restrictions are only for posting requests in this room (most restrictions are on cv-pls requests). Our restrictions are not intended to apply to what you personally choose to close-vote/-flag in general.

Can I get a second opinion (by a >20K user) on foreign? Want to do a quick burninate since it's an ambiguous tag, recently created with an excerpt about an R lib but already misused for foreign keys by 3 out of 4 questions.
@double-beep Eh... It's ambiguous as ****. Foreign languages, foreign keys, that R lib. If we want a tag for that R lib, someone's gotta pick a better name imo
@ekad Roomba has always deleted duplicates. There are multiple Roomba tasks. The only one that doesn't delete duplicates is the one that deletes closed questions 9 days after closure. The task that deletes questions which are >30 days old and the task for questions >365 days old both delete duplicate questions, but not if there is an answer or otherwise don't meet the other criteria.
@NickA of course, sometimes, I put a comment for potential late answer reviewers: I am not sure if this is really NAA/VLQ because... blah, blah, blah to confuse them more. Also, I edit them to exclude them from the late answers queue, hoping reviewers will get a steward badge xD
How do we close questions asking "is this code correct"? Ref: stackoverflow.com/q/30005536/5211833 in this case the code is correct, in case that matters.
@NickA but it's not unclear what they ask, it's a very simple problem and the answer to whether their code is correct is a simple "yes". Not unclear or too broad IMO
I was doubting between debugging and No Repro, I think I'll go No MCVE, because they sort of want us to debug in case it is incorrect. The code just happens to be correct and hence no debugging is needed

@NickA Mark's comment on the answer there sums it up nicely for me: if you don't know whether a program works there is no problem to verify. Basically OP should've pressed 'start' on their program, and then, if it didn't work, have expanded on that.
Yes, the way I see it is if the didn't press start and see if it's working, why are they asking anything, if you don't know why someones asking something is that not unclear? - same result though, should be closed :)

@StephenKennedy I considered flagging R/A, but figured that it was at least expressed in decent language and wasn't condescending (just horribly misguided), so I went with VLQ.
@Matthew I would think a hefty rate limitation for questions is in order. Official guidance ("What can I do when getting....") indicates that you don't get q-banned for one bad post, even if it is shockingly bad. The ban is designed to stop recidivists, that is, people who just can't or won't learn what is appropriate here.
From the Help center: "You are awarded additional bonus flags when you flag correctly - one bonus flag for every ten net helpful flags (helpful flags minus declined flags)."
I am still unsure as to what is a helpful flag. It is not explained in the document.

The they had quoted the targeted link and then provided their own interpretation they it stood a chance, but it is clear copy+paste in it current state
@Matthew for future reference, we tend to flag spam instead of close vote it. For flag requests, we use [tag:flag-pls] instead.
A good sanity check is, if you're using [tag:cv-pls], then the reason you give (in this case, where you said 'VLQ / Spam') should be a close-worthy reason, e.g. "Too Broad", "Typo", "No MCVE/MRE", "Duplicate", etc.
@Matthew You can cause your text to display as a "tag" in chat by wrapping it in the [tag: ] syntax. How it works is clicking on that tag will then take you to SO Main with the list of questions tagged with that tag
Since you're almost never going to intend to provide a link to questions that are tagged with spam (since there are no questions with that tag), it doesn't make much sense to use that tag markup.
@Matthew use the *-pls tag for the action you're requesting. If you want to post a question that should be closed, use cv-pls. If you're requesting flags, flag-pls or reflag-pls (where appropriate)
@RobertColumbia The only time that requesting a VLQ or NAA flag is permitted is when you are unable to flag it yourself (e.g. you are out of flags, or you already flagged it like that and your flag has been disposed of (e.g. someone edited it out of the review queue)). The reason for this is that additional VLQ or NAA flags do almost nothing and don't help the post be processed faster.
@Matthew It looks like I was a bit overzealous in saying don't use spam -- that appears to be the suggested format according to our FAQ; sorry about that.
Initially, I found it quite distracting to be both keeping track of the conversation and running the meeting. But, with a bit of experience it got easier (as expected).
Side question though, what is the purpose of that bounty anyway, won't it just expire or be rewarded to the top voted answer anyway unless the OP accepts an answer?
@Matthew The person who posted such a bounty has the option to award it to whatever answer they desire. It will not be automatically awarded unless there is an answer added after the bounty is placed which gets a score of at least 2. In that case 1/2 of the bounty will be automatically awarded if the user who placed the bounty does not award it manually. If the OP places the bounty, then if they accept an answer that implicitly tells the system to award the bounty to that question.
I'm not sure if that is the case for bounties placed by other people.
@MihaiChelaru At 3 or more of the same question, it's not unreasonable to raise a custom mod-flag. For only a single repost of a question, just vote/flag to close as duplicate. I'd also normally leave a comment explaining that reposting a duplicate question is not the way that things are handled on Stack Exchange, as some people might not be aware that doing so is not appropriate.
@Matthew I used to be a flag lightweight But then I found Charcoal. One to two months on the Charcoal flagging program and now I have lots of helpful flags. Don't wait, buy visit Charcoal today!

To be fair, to a company, an $11k computer isn't terrible. The comments don't really seem to understand that the Mac Pro is geared towards professionals
It's horribly overpriced, but it's not a personal machine
