Ah. Well if you have time before you need to move they should at least cover the moving expenses. If you need to move like now then they should put you up in a hotel or something at least for a couple weeks until you can find a place.

At least that is what a good company should do.

@RawN Often times that's all you get and you need to do your own searching. Normally you need to join a pretty top company for them to offer free professional relocation services.

@NathanOliver Things are horrible when it comes to C++ development in my corner of the Europe. High demand, universities don't teach them squat and no one wants to bother learning it because it's some dumb console.

@QPaysTaxes I squandered 10+ years with Delphi and what not. After discovering C++ 1.5 years ago I pretty much lost all interest in other languages. Plenty of material to keep me entertained until I reincarnate.

@QPaysTaxes Yeah, Unfortunetlly that was because things like the standard library and string predate the actual standardization of C++. If they had to do it all over again everything would have a consistent interface and all the functionality would be in <algorithm>. The committee hates breaking legacy code so IMHO it would be at least a decade before the even consider deprecating that stuff. Then another decade to remove it.

Yeah. Fortunately though you can ignore the legacy stuff and just use the new stuff. No reason to dirty the code with legacy functions.

Meh. You found it naturally so it's not like you went out of your way to find it. On the other hand no activity for 7 years so it is not hurting anything either. Personally I'd leave it alone and spend the close vote on something else.

The only time I CV Google results is if it's misleading. Like someone made a terrible answer years ago and it's #1 in Google, but doesn't help people trying to solve that problem
