He simply didn't know that backslashes needed escaping.

For burnination, you update the tag wiki to tell people not to use it, and then you go through the questions closing questions that can be closed and editing those that are good to remove the tag (and make other appropriate edits)

@MsYvette correct, a flag or a CV lasts 14 days (IIRC), so if a question is in the queue and the most recent close vote or close flag expires, then the question leaves the queue. So a flag or a vote on a question essentially "resets" the counter back to 0.
