@Gimby I used VSC++ in 1999 and it was already pretty good. The compiler sucked (still sucks AFAIK) but the interface is fast & it's stable & works. You got to like the zillion tabs in he options though. Code::blocks tries to imitate that too... barf.

I know I've seen at least one or two mods say they rarely use the move to arbitrary site function because unless a mod from the proposed target is available to check with it's too hard to tell if the destination site would accept it and they want to avoid failed migrations because they never leave anyone happy.

@ConspicuousCompiler but isn't that the recurring theme (and essentially my point). Why not just discuss? I mean after the so many mess-ups you'd think they'd try another way instead of continuously trying one method (which has proven to fail).

@ConspicuousCompiler FWIW, I think the removal due to the insult is absolutely correct, the reason for the wanting the comment quoted is because that was where the discussion had lead. Yes salutations are obviously less of an issue on metas (albeit I still don't think they should be present) but this isn't a salutation, it's a blatant disregard for what's been said and done and shows a total lack of attention to how community feels

I mean, I don't want to apologize for poor community management when they have a dedicated CM team. But they're a public-facing company with responsibility to their investors. Sensitive subjects, especially re: behavior towards protected classes of individuals, probably require consulting with lawyers and board, which is not a fast process.

Q: Why is there a 6 char min edit?

I don't see why you need to edit 6 chars to make an edit. If there is a question that is missing a single paren, for example, and that was not to do with the question, then why not be allowed to fix it?

I never understood the need to make a policy of it. It's not like personally attacking anyone would help with anything (other than venting your own frustration perhaps, and there are probably better ways to do that, like exercising or something).

I realize folks are really mad at SO for their behavior here, but have you all considered that maybe the mod in question may have actually made some serious missteps with users who complained in private to SO, and they're protecting those users by not being forthcoming?

For me, the main issue was that the procedure to remove the moderator wasn't followed. Which blindsided the moderator team of each site.

@AndrasDeak It really does matter if you think about it. No reply sounds an awful lot like failure to justify actions. If they have another awful reason, that says a lot about SE and would invalidate the entire campaign.

Responding here as it is the top post. We aren't going to re-litigate the past. We can't share more details as they involve real people, both moderators and people that work here. What we can say now is that we will do better in the future.
