So I joined @StackOverflow chat for the first time today, they were talking about prostitutes. I called them on it as potentially not being very welcoming (related to https://stackoverflow.blog/2018/04/26/stack-overflow-isnt-very-welcoming-its-time-for-that-to-change/) and I was kicked from the channel I just don't even know where to start with this 😔

Feminism is not a person or a group of people, its an ideology. Just like religion.

Attacking a religion does not mean one attacks a person or even a group of people.

Issues arise when you conflate the two.

And based on the image forresthopkin, the issue the guy was having was not about the topic, it was about being banned for his differing opinion

in truth, I am inclined to agree. I think it silly that he would get offended over that topic, but to ban him for expressing his side is pretty ridiculous imo

It's not that we are sensitive. Most of us *really* don't care and we had some very hardcore topics up in here some times.
Thing is, some people care. Thus, mods care. We are an extension of SO, viewed as a professional site, hence advertisers care. If they do, then SO does too cause dolla dolla bills yo.

All in all, If nobody cared it would be fine, but because some do, mess is due to happen, and we really don't enjoy clearing the mess and dealing with shit :)

@55Cancri this room used to be MUCH more lively and active and welcoming (topkek), but a lot of us chose to move fun discussion to other places, making it mostly void

I use to rag on towc when he would complain about how his life sucks. We use to solve programming puzzles, people would talk abour interesting stuff. Now it's sorta drab. All you here now is how @forresthopkinsa lives in Arazona and hunts lizards in the desert
