the pi only talks to the existing controller. tells it what to do.

you can use your computer directly if you like. you don't need a pi at all

it lets you control it (move axis, change temps) without using the cr-10 control panel. and when you print from the pi it's streaming the commands

over a plain serial connection

Desiccant can only hold so much moisture, once they're full, they stop collecting moisture.
