but basically a client will override onResponse in a library that we hook, then we need to dynamically replace the Response argument they provide with our own injected Response

I can't change the underlying method sig though, It needs to take a Response object, unless I misunderstand

Not sure if i understood this so let me give you an example

fun response(data : () -> String){
val stringData = data
}

So something like this is what will be overridden and passed to us:
override fun onResponse(call: Call, response: Response) {

I need to replace their response with an injected Response

maybe pass it as a constructor argument

or if you have multiple functions crate a class that holds all of these

so for example you would have something like this

class Serivce(resultsProvider: ResultProvider){
fun onResponse(call:Call, response:Response) = resultsProvider.onResponse()
}

class ResponseProvider(resultsProvider:Response -> Unit)
