Hi all, I'm kinda in rather desperate need of some advice regarding building an android app (My first one). I decided to use rhomobiles' Rhodes 3 platform which works really really well for me up to a point (I have RoR and Ruby development experience) and I have been able to get an app working pretty much the way I want it except for the fact that I am totally at a loss as to how to make use of external jar files

Now I'm at a point where I have to make a decision.

I'm getting no help from anywhere on this (not even from rhomobile) apart from some small snippets of advice so I'm thinking that I need to decide whether or not to stick with Rhodes 3 or go with another development platform

I'd always stick to the base platform.

That is developing without any other abstraction layer in between.

Wait a second ... you need to check out their "chat profile" but I think if you go to their normal one on stack overflow you can change the start of the url to chat.stackoverflow.com .... that will take you to the chat profile

alternatively find them in another room and you can access both profiles from there

When I read the C2DM tutorial

it said that

facebook sends push messaging

and the idea of sending push messaging is to send a tickler to the app in the android device, stating something has changed and time for the client to make a sync with the server

There are quality problems with android questions so we downvote and close the one that are duplicates or of bad quality

I just use JSONArray and JSONObject ... I didn't even think to use anything more than that

@ThunderRabbit Just enclose the entire JSON parsing thingy with that try-catch block.

Or just put it in a function and allow that function to throw exceptions, then you can catch all of them from outside

And remember to check the payload you are going to feed to JSONObject. It takes it time to parse big ones.
