@MwBakker I honestly doubt that unless they have very little projects going on which would be red flag to me. Now say that it's not the case, I think it depends on your career goals, if you wanna speed up your learning you may want to stay focused on 1 job

I'd rather hire someone who knew multiple facets of development, not just one area

I think this can be a good thing, but only at the start of your career. Maybe you find something you like much more than android development or whatever, and you can focus on that other thing in a next job. However regardless of what you end up doing, I cannot stress enough how crucial it is that you have a mentor of some kind that will teach you the ropes of everything that you will be doing

I did not have a mentor in my first 2 years and looking back on those years it almost feels like wasted time

yeah, it's definitely way better the earlier in your career and the benefit falls off as you gain experience

I was also in a 5 in 1 job, and although I was hired for mobile development, there was one project that required us to build some website and my boss was like tim can you do it

and I was like um I guess but it will take me 20x as long because I don't know shit about web dev, and he was like oh well yea do it anyway because we have no other devs

@Tim I get what you mean, but development changes a lot overtime so there isn't one language to focus on with development

think about this mwb when you are scrubbing the toilets with a toothbrush because there is no cleaning crew and you just happened to walk by as your boss was thinking about the dirty toilets

@ballBreaker because IMHO dev is hard and competitive and you have to gain knowledge up to a certain level to have a value in the market and to have a certain foothold to learn and switch different stuff as long as you acquired the basics

why wouldn't you be able to do that with a multi hat role

If I'm hiring someone who has two years of experience, and one guy has only purely coded front end UI shit, VS someone who has fullstack experience, who am I going to choose?

2y exp: 8 months dev, 8 months HR, 8 months Techsales, you only have 8 months of exp in dev

@Tim with all the interviews I had the company mostly worked in a framework that was optimilized for themselves and required a learning curve despite my experience in C#/Android/JS and such
