Whoever consumes the flowable would have to handle on error, no? I mean I could do that in the repo, I have seen examples like that where the repo actually returns a state instead of the actual response.

Yeah but you should not propagate anything that indicates where the data came from or what lib was used to fetch it

Whatever viewmodel subscribes to that flowable doesn't care where it started, it just cares about what comes out.
