btw I recently thought about it: what stops them from raising the price to be prohibitive for regular people? there aren't much companies that are able to produce CPUs, especially x86. a possible outcome if we get unlucky (and if competition ends) is that programming won't be available as a hobby again, unless you're rich, until someone designs and starts producing some decent CPUs from scratch.
