would it be good or bad if the list of classes in a namespace (like the column here php.net/manual/en/class.reflectionclass.php) would show not only the name but also a short description of the classes?

Guys, just a quick check on opinion.

Say I wanted a rating system where users could rate something out of five stars

What would be the best way to calculate the average?

I was thinking to store every single rating in the database for each item, but potentially thousands of people could rate it and this would get very long

Is there something more simpler

@Alesana They're not really standards.

For the most part they are just a bunch of framework authors who work together to create somewhat compatible code and code styles.

Many of their decisions are based on how code is today and how it might be tomorrow, and not really trying to make leaps and bounds. That's how it seems whenever I've interacted with them, anyway.

as the number at the PSR grows, the relevance diminishes

I didn't read them all, but I was able to easily able to pick out the ones that would be most helpful for me to write uniform code.

@Wes it's funny, I said that, and I checked hte syrup bottle. The front says "no high fructose corn syrup" but in the ingredients it has liquid sugar and corn syrup. Like that's any better.

@Alesana only 1st and 2nd define the code style. And you could argue that 4th (autoloading) also has impact on style. The rest define the interfaces.

Those are pretty much the ones I read, 0, 1, 2, and 4, then the meta ones for those. If I were making a framework I'd read the others.

making a decent framework will take something like 6 months, and it will not be your first attempt

but, oh well, fuck it, you already have made up you mind, so there is no fucking point of me wasting time to impart any of my past experience

Hey guys I'm starting to get crazy over something. I'm on mac, trying to reinstall php71 with brew.
Whenever i run `php -v` I got this error.

SO, I check php --ini and I comment out every line which mention intl in bot extension.in and php.ini

I restart apache

And run again -v

But nothing change

If someone asks me to complete a "quick coding challenge for us to review", then they say "Given [...] detect [...].", then they say "zip up your package and send it back to me", would you think they are wanting a package that can be used in an application, or an application that showcases my solution?

I can't decide whether it's worth the time investment to find communities, that will have the information, that I need (it's regarding books I want to find)

I would think that an application would better showcase my knowledge. It's just an interface with 3 classes that implement it, and the only hard requirement is that it has a method that returns the correct value. I guess it looks like a package
