this is a dumb question, I apologize. I'm trying to import a database in phpmyadmin from one server to another server. the import function keeps giving a 404 error. the sql file is approx. 44 MB, but I have the php.ini set to accept files up to 50MB. I tried zipping the sql file, still getting a 404. What could I be missing?

the server I did the mysqldump, I did not use CLI, I used phpmyadmin, because (this is what I was told, so I'm just following a procedure) I need "disable foreign key check" and "add DROP TABLE / PROCEDURE / etc... in the export, and phpmyadmin makes it easier

@rabbitguy depends. I use SO to ask questions for when I can't figure something out myself, and I know there are smarter people than me that can. Sometimes I answer a question, but I don't devote a lot of time to it because I have a to-do list a mile long. :(
I'm asking bcz my boss jumped my case for answering a question while at work yesterday and commenting on (ready) 15 separate posts over an 8 hour work day
I think my boss doesn't understand, but interacting on SO helps a developer stay sharp in not only his or her own questions, but in helping others also keeps them sharp
@rabbitguy I think it depends on how much time you devote to it, and if you're behind on work. If you're caught up, then I don't see it as a big deal. If you're behind on a project, then you should be working on that project.
my supervisor and boss aren't developers. I'm basically the only developer on my team, so having others to communicate with when I have problems is a HUGE help

so first project was to create a system that allowed local users to tell a web app when a certain amount of ppl were without power, text them, then they go to a website to get further details..
my supervisor used to be the same way, but she's changed over the years and has improved. I came close to losing my job more than once, but I had undiagnosed mental illnesses at the time that were untreated that made work an absolute bitch. getting those treated made a difference. TL;DR I'm fucking grateful I still have my job.
Got that project done in two months, which I think was pretty good considering I have never worked in the electric industry b4. I had no idea how that db was setup, how PHP could communicate w/a sql server, how to blend php/html5/css together, et al...
especially if you're working for someone that doesn't understand time tables for development

regardless, here's my boss in a nutshell. I had a seizure one night, had to go to the hospital. My mother picks me up at 2am. I get out of the ER at 11 and get to work by 1pm missing a company wide meeting that morning. I bring papers from the ER to show I was there, he pulls me in his office and says, "[this company] doesn't have epilepsy, so if this is gonna be a problem, you may need to find another job."

I've never wished to have a seizure, but if I ever have another one, I want to be in front of him when it happens bcz he's told me straight up that he's never seen someone have a seizure before

@Fabor I know that I have had that scare since age of ~15 (I dont have sold memories before that), and since my mother is a general physician, she would know about any injuries before that, which could have caused a 3-4cm scar on torso. She has no idea.

@tereško Maybe :) it's mad how much of a problem mental health is. Apparently it's quite a big problem among developers as well - but I think that's more related to the kind of life that leads many people to coding :P
@Ekn Indeed it does. These kind of things need to be spoken about more openly. Remove the taboo feeling so people know it's okay and they're not alone.

@NikiC I've been playing with not nesting my structures so much and have some sad results to report. I've been using Map, doing a million `put` ops using random ints, 50 trials averaged. Instead of `php_ds_map->ds_map->table` I've managed to get `&php_ds_map->table` to work, so the table is part of the struct not just referenced within. This is as good as it'll get short of completely embedding the table stuff directly in `php_ds_map` which is a step too far imo.
