In the long term, you'd also like to eliminate all implicit conversions between pointers and ints, but that is longer term. I don't think conversion from 0 to null pointer is even deprecated yet, even though nearly everybody wishes it were gone already.
If you want a stable ABI that can be used cross-language then "supporting" C++ is not a feature, it's a liability
