The show is about these AI becoming conscious (maybe?) and their suffering at the hands of humans. Them 'escaping' or turning on their masters (who don't even know they may be conscious) is what the show is about.. or that is what it seems.

Season 1 is all out, and ends is a cliffhanger, but many story lines are tied up in a fairly satisfying way. Season 2 is going to be a while.
