you need another server to poll, then do that.. so.. I vote jsut poll like you are and handle the errors so that it doesn't poop itself at might.

I agree that websockets are the ideal way to stream live data.. but this is just a schedule display.. and talking to a server you don't control. just poll once/minute or however often you want, and move onto more interesting problems.
