Sure. Then jQuery is also C++, as JavaScript is ultimately converted to C++ for the physical machine. And the translation is so simple that even a CPU is able to do it. However, with all the respects i owe to jQuery (which is a very effective framework/library), I am still wondering if I'll ever have the time to learn it. To tell the truth, JavaScript, even in the plain Vanilla flavor, does not reach 15% of my programming language usage, and my boss has devised a better usage for my training time (At least, that is what he thinks).
