@caps Correct--"previous code" in this case would be code in the interface itself, that's (for example) assuring that the parameters that were passed are suitable for use by that interface (especially if the checking is on the complex side).

@CatPlusPlus If it's truly asserting exactly the same things, no. In some cases, however, you have at least a few ultimate effects that you depend upon that are quite a bit simpler than the full checking code, and it can be worthwhile to assert them.
