@Jordan cons constructs a list (takes two things, and puts them together). car and cdr are the parts of the list -- car is the beginning and cdr is the rest. @Jordan Math sucks, from my perspective atleast. I know its really frustrating, but when you need to know how to rotate a vector about another vector in space somewhere and display that visually, you'll appreciate the math courses you took.

I'm in the same boat, and think the same thing. But trust me, in the end, its worth it.

I've used some math a lot (especially geometry/trigonometry), but can't remember that last time I put any calculus to use.

I'd also recommend not shooting yourself in the foot and using a convient website like wolframalpha... You'll pay for not learning the actual methodologies,

I agree that the question is unclear. But I think it's like a bug that you don't know the cause of, but you have a fix anyway. The answer (IMO) is to put the OP on the straight wrt. need for pointers.

The time it takes for me to write equivalent code in say c++ and the amount of code in c++ is great in my experience.
