Hi! In a Node.js + socket.io app, any idea of how to make a non-blocking version of the following code. (I am thinking of using the socket.set callback, but in my app, the hasPrivileges function could change on runtime, so I'm not sure how to do it).

Oh, also, vim sucks and stuff. Only good editor is VS +ReSharper. ST3 is close to decent. WebStorm is fair. The only problem is that you need a really powerful PC to run VS+ReSharper

@ThiefMaster Anyway, the non-blocking IO spec for python looks very interesting. I think one of the main reasons Ryan Dhal chose JS is because it didn't have a standard file IO. I'm really not sure what the problem with Tornado is though

@Sam In node.js everyone has to constantly be aware of blocking. If there is the slightest chance of async IO you have to inform the user and must use a callback or other asynchronous semaphore mechanism
